Color scheme: be unique!

Do you think your interior design color scheme needs a bit of a renovation? Read this article for some colorful inspo!
Even more than the furniture itself, what can actually make a difference in your interior design is the color scheme and the color combinations you choose. It’s in our nature to play it safe, and this is why we often tend to choose basically neutral color schemes; it’s not unusual to find almost entirely white or beige rooms. The reason why we do this, is that we are convinced we’re never going to get tired of these safe colors; but in reality, we might end up finding them boring! What we should do is experimenting with creative and original color combos instead!

Peacock blue + antique pink
This is a mindblowing combination that’s guaranteed to create a wonderfully romantic and cozy atmosphere. It is a color scheme for lovers of past fashion eras: both peacock blue and antique pink can be defined as pretty vintage colors; however, during these last few years there has been a new appreciation for these long-gone trends. Plus, if you put these two shades together, the resulting combination will actually have a pretty contemporary, fancy hip flair about it!

Metallic shades + transparencies
This color combination plays more on texture rather than on color itself. What we love about the idea of combining a metallic shade (and material) like copper or bronze with the transparency of glass, is that the result is based on the contrast between the solidity of the metal and the fragility of the glass. At the same time, however, there is a sort of continuity between these two types of materials and colors, since both are characterized by a polished, sleek surface. In conclusion, combining any sort of metallic shade with pure, transparent glass will create an unexpectedly harmonious combination that will look sleek and fancy in any room!

White + basic colors
We tend to forget the power of white in bringing out even the simplest designs! Take these lovely decorations on this cabinet. Two things are worth noticing. First of all, all the colours that have been employed for decorating this cabinet are pretty basic and simple: red, yellow, pink, purple, black...and the decorations are pretty basic too! Tiny skulls, gothic crosses, and so on. Still, the overall effect is that of a richly decorated cabinet that wouldn’t be unfit for a classy environment! Why? Because the decorations have been kept small and minimal, while the classic design of the cabinet, combined with the stark white background, add an air of refinement to an actually pretty informal design.

Red + black
This is another color combo that should never be underestimated. It’s most definitely the ultimate interior design power move: only ever try it if you feel 100% bold and confident to be able to pull it off. Our suggestion is to always make it slightly less dramatic by applying a few touches of white: your interior design will still look graphic, but your guests won’t be having the impression of having begun their descent into Hell.

Millennial pink + strong colors
Millennial pink is most definitely here to stay, at least until this generation is in charge. Needless to say, we’re just enthusiastic about this shade! Why? Well, apart from the fact that we tend to love most shades of pink in general anyway, we believe Millennial pink in particular to be pure genius. You see, you can combine Millennial pink with so many different colors, as long as they’re strong; take a look at this picture, for instance: black, white, gold, dark cherry red.

White + foliage green
White is by definition a color that goes with everything; however, how about combining it with some natural green? Not only will the green of the plants be brought out by the pure white of the vase, but the contrast between the different textures of the leaves and the sleek surface of the flower pot will make for an eye-catching home décor piece.

Mint + wood
A great combination that’s so creative because apparently lots of people fail to see its potential, is mint and natural, raw wood. Mint green is a color that always works particularly well inside the kitchen; combining it with furniture or kitchen countertops made of natural wood creates a warm, rural atmosphere that it’s ideal if you want your kitchen to have a laid-back, homely look.

Blue navy + white stained ash
Let’s be clear, there are very few shades (if any) that don’t agree with white stained ash. When combined with pastel colors, white stained ash furniture makes for the best furniture for a children’s bedroom, for example. However, have you ever tried it with more challenging colors, like navy blue? The effect will be a nice mix of formal and informal styles for an interior design that’s never going to look obvious or banal.
