Snuggle up! Tips to make your home feel super cozy

Home is where you’re free to snuggle up! Not sure about to make your rooms look cozier? Here are our tips and ideas on how to style the coziest home!
Why should you take some time to make sure you’ve done everything in your power to make your home achieve the maximum level of coziness? Well, of course everyone has their own style and their own interior design ideas. Still, picture this. You get home at 6pm; you’re tired, and also sort of bummed because that project you had been putting so much of your work into has just been cancelled. Or even worse, you are annoyed beyond words because your team leader didn’t listen to any of your suggestions on how to improve the team’s performances, and now the boss thinks it’s your fault if the team is underperforming. What we’re saying here is: don’t you feel like it would be great to just go home to the coziest, comfiest, warmest environment possible? Read our tips on how to make sure your cozy nest will always be there to comfort and cheer you up!
Be playful!
Consider this Rule Number One. A serious, collected design may do wonders for an office or a museum, but not for the place where you’re supposed to feel welcome! Being playful does not mean you have to fill the house with random, unmatching pieces of furniture you’ve been collecting from the side of the road, though. It simply means, whenever a cute, unusual piece of design catches your eye, consider going for it! Our tip is to really think about what kind of effect you want to get. Would you like your playful piece to be a sort of “side" décor piece, or a centerpiece? In the first case scenario, a good choice may be a bunch of cute lamps. For instance, a little cluster of 3 or 5 lamps, hanging at different heights, are sure to look fun and playful; and feel free to go bold! Why not try gold?
Second case scenario: why not turn the playful item into a full-on centerpiece? The choice is simply vast here! We’re suggesting a revisited classic: we suppose you must be familiar with the Bubble Chair. Well, you’ll be happy to know that, since that model was first designed in 1968, a thousand different models have been invading the market. The one we’re suggesting you is particularly brilliant, because it can work both for the indoors AND for the outdoors! As a result, you’ll be able to keep this chair inside in the fall and during winter, while moving it outside as the weather starts warming up.
Add a bit of Mid-century Modern
Mid-century is still going strong and its popularity is still untouched. Thank heavens, because we simply adore that style! Let’s be honest, we’d never furnish our home with Mid-century furniture exclusively: that’s too much rétro even for us. But in truth, a piece here and there will do wonders for warming up your place! A few tips? One example of a Mid-century piece you could add to your home décor is a low, tiny and wooden side table; its cone-shaped tiny legs, geometric shape and a touch of bright color will do the trick. Would you like to go a bit bolder? Try a richly patterned wallpaper, like in the picture below!
Have comfort in mind
If you want your house to feel cozy, you need to make it comfy! One of the best way to do so is through a sofa. But not just any sofa! There’s a few features you need to keep in mind during your selection process. The main one is how richly padded the cushions are: you don’t want to get a hard, flat, uncomfortable sofa. Then, you want to consider the upholstery; if you can’t decide between leather and fabric, go for the latter. Mind you, we love leather, but it can look a bit cold sometimes. What about the color? It needs to be either warm, like orange, peach, etc, or very neutral: you’ll brighten it up with a few colorful pillows and throws. Finally, the shape: try to look for a sofa with rounded corners, you won’t regret it.
Speaking of comfort, what’s comfier than fur? Of course, whether you’ll get an eco-chic or real fur is completely up to you. Our suggestion is to employ fur in order to enrich and warm up your living room (or bedroom design). Fur throws and pillows will also make you feel a bit like a Viking warrior or shield-maiden: your home décor will not only make you feel super warm and cozy, but also empowered!
Colorful kitchen
Don’t underestimate the cozy power of a colorful kitchen! An all-white or all-black kitchen will look minimal, organized and definitely classy, but is it going to warm up your heart when you’re having breakfast in the morning or cooking dinner in the evening? If the answer is “no”, then you should look for a way to make your kitchen shine a little brighter! A great idea is to swap your cabinets’ doors with some colorful ones -- or, if you’re a bit short on cash, just paint them! You don’t need to employ warm shades to make your kitchen appear cozier; just select your favorite bright shade et voilà!
Pastels
Speaking of colors, we can’t forget to mention pastels! Pastel-colored home décor pieces scattered here and there will create a delicate but lively and colorful pattern that will literally invite feelings of coziness inside your home.
Softness
Consider this factor as one of the most important whenever you’re buying pillows, blankets, bed sheets and towels. You may think towels are a secondary item, as after all you don’t use them for comfort itself, but simply to dry yourself up after a shower. Still, wouldn’t it be nice to feel like your soft, delicately colored towel is hugging you?
Free your inner child
This is very much connected to the idea of playfulness. We’re not suggesting you fill up your home with stuffed animals and action figures -- although you’re more than free to, if you want! But, why not get a version for grown-ups of what you used to love as a child? For instance, what kid doesn’t love blowing soap bubbles? We’re sure you used to love that too! Well, did you know that there are lamps designed to look precisely as giant soap bubbles? This is just one example of how freeing your inner child will add a fun, informal vibe to your house.
Go natural
Natural materials are actually pretty key when it comes to making an environment look and feel more welcoming. There’s something about the raw spirit of nature that makes rustic designs feel closer to our inner soul. Especially today, we’re witnessing a huge (symbolic) return to nature: stones, crystals, wood and plants are taking the interior design world by storm. Have you ever thought about clay? We think there’s no better material for a wash basin: clay symbolizes renewal and rebirth, so naturally, it goes perfectly well with a purificating item such as a wash basin.
Finally, don’t forget to add nature in your bedroom too! The purpose of a bedroom is to relax you and gently lead you into the land of sleep, and we’re sure a few wooden items will help you get there. How about a natural wooden headboard?
