Today mosaics pieces are almost always sold on pre-assembled nets or sheets (which can have variable dimensions, the most common are 30x30 cm). Is important that the bottom of the surface on which the sheets will be applied, is properly prepared before the mosaic is installed. Your wall or pavement will have to be as smooth as possible, before you start decorating it with the mosaic: this is the most important thing to get a satisfying final result. The mosaics are usually fixed to the surface with a special glue, or with a silicone-based paste, tha guarantees a fairly fast setting. Modern mosaics compositions have significantly reduced installation times, especially the solutions which allow pre-assembled compositions, with pre-finished joints that do not require further work to be placed, but simply an accurate cleaning of the smooth surface.
