Goldfinger: swim in gold!

Goldfinger was the inspiration behind this article: create the perfect Bond villain mansion, minus the world domination plans.
You might remember than not too long ago we wrote an article on how 2018 is the year to stylishly use gold to decor your home: you can take a look here if you want to refresh your memory.
But, as Goldfinger (or Scrooge McDuck) could easily tell you, there’s never enough gold to keep you satisfied. Why not be magnificent? We started looking for ways to double the golden charm of your house. Combine these two articles, and you’ll quite literally swim in gold!
Walking on sunshine
If you want to feel like a king or a queen as soon as you get up from bed, there’s only one way: gold on the floor. Here you have a few options to make your floor royal; the first one is one of our go-to choices. We are talking about marble, of course. Marble is a royally elegant and classy material that’s been used for flooring for centuries; regardless of pattern and color, nothing can beat its timeless beauty. When in doubt, always choose marble! One of the most wonderful features of marble is that there are so many variations that it’s impossible not to find the one the suits your taste: in this case, a taste for gold.
Is golden marble my only choice?
Marble is an excellent choice, but it might not suit you if you don’t enjoy playing it safe. If your goal is to be extravagant, and not only to impress, but to leave your guests in awe as soon as they step across your threshold, then we have what you’re looking for, something fit for kings and queens: mosaics. Golden mosaics nowadays descend directly from the ancient Byzantine tradition of creating mesmerising patterns that would eventually end up decorating palaces and cathedrals all over Europe. Mosaics made of glass and golden leaf are still being skillfully crafted today: an art that has not been forgotten and that’s ready to make your house as precious as ever.
Magic carpet
Finally, one last touch to walk on your very own golden sunshine is adding a few bold rugs and carpets to the scene. Actually, rugs and carpets are a perfect compromise if you don’t want to go through the hustle of having to re-do all of your floors but still want to enjoy a shiny, luxuriously gold atmosphere. If gold already is the dominant color in your house, why not choose a high-quality but glamorously distressed-looking rug? It might create a pleasant contrast with the full-on brightness of the rest of the room and it will add personality to the whole house.
We also have another tip for you: it’s always wise to get some pieces of furniture made from natural materials to make the room look warmer and cozy. So why not go for a rug made of wool or silk?
Warm it up!
Here’s something we’re pretty sure you didn’t consider: how do you feel about gold radiators? We think they’re the definitive touch to declare your love for gold to the whole world. In the end, people can expect marble floors and golden leaf decorations, but they’ll hardly see gold radiators coming!
Liquid gold
Remember how Scrooge McDuck used to swim in his ocean of hard-earned money? Well, we’re not saying actual gold is going to come out of these water dispensers, but still: they will immediately add a touch of grandeur to your bathroom. What’s beautiful about gold appliances is that they will work well in synergy with other golden furniture in the room, creating the illusion of a golden heaven, but they will also shine by themselves. In fact, install gold dispensers and sinks in an understated bathroom, and they will steal the scene!
